Alexandria, VA native, Mike Evans joined the Alexandria Citizens Band in 2009 as a euphonium player and was appointed Conductor in 2016, after serving as Associate Conductor.
He began his music instruction at age nine on trumpet at Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Washington, DC. He is a 2002 DeMatha Catholic High School (Hyattsville, MD) graduate and continued his education at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in 2008. His primary teachers include Mr. Dean Englert and Dr. Mike Hall. His instructors also include MSG (ret.) Scott Cameron of the United States Army Field Band, SSgt Hiram Diaz of the “President’s Own” United States Marine Band, and SFC Daniel Ord of “Pershing’s Own” United States Army Band.
Mike is currently a member of the 380th Army Reserve Band in Richmond, Va, serving as principal euphonium player, trombone player, and enlisted conductor.
Mike is a school band director in the greater Washington, DC area and maintains an extensive brass studio of over 15 students. He is currently the Bass Trombonist of the Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra. He has performed with the NIH Philharmonia and World Doctors Orchestra, Arlington Concert Orchestra, Vienna Community Band, the National Concert Band of America, and the Annandale Symphony.
Mike currently resides in Alexandria, VA with his wife, Sarah, a clarinetist with ACB.
